A recital of Jewish composers imprisoned in ghettos and concentration camps during the Holocaust will feature some of the most important compositions ever written in the 20th century, including Pavel Haas’ Suite for Oboe and Piano, Erwin Schulhoff’s Hot Sonate for Saxophone and Piano, Art Songs in Yiddish, Hebrew, and Czech by Viktor Ullmann, Gideon Klein, and Ilse Weber, and solo piano music, including Gideon Klein’s piano sonata, and selected works by composers James Simon and Szymon Laks. Performers include saxophonist Dr. George Wolfe, oboist Dr. Lisa Kozenko, mezzo-soprano Dr. Cynthia Smith, and pianist Dr. Galit Gertsenzon from Ball State University in Indiana.
