In this talk, Dr. Shauna Gillooly will focus on an examination of the intersection of political and environmental conflict using a transnational lens. The talk will cover how the environment is included and imagined in different national peacebuilding projects, drawing from case studies in Colombia where communities are faced with threats from mounting ecological/environmental crises, and whose mobilization in the face of those threats is in turn met by parastatal and paramilitary violence.
